Special Issue on Subgrade Engineering: Intelligent Construction and Maintenance

To achieve the national strategic goals and missions of "transportation power" and "new infrastructure", there is an urgent research need to address the intelligent construction of transportation infrastructure. "Roadbed intelligent construction and maintenance technology" aims to solve the problems of roadbed intelligent construction and maintenance in railway, highway and airport infrastructures. For example, it is difficult to identify roadbed disease accurately in the early stage. Subgrade performance monitoring and disease treatment approaches are limited. Multi-sourced data are difficult to merge for making decisions of maintenance.
On the basis of digitalization, to comprehensively improve the intelligence, green, toughness and long-life quality of infrastructure, and to enhance the construction quality and service level of intelligent transportation infrastructure, it is necessary for the research and development, application and promotion of all kinds of new technologies, new materials, new processes and new methods. On the basis of clear development objectives and development paradigm, all industries should adhere to the goal-oriented and problem-oriented, focus on engineering problems, promote independent innovation, so as to facilitate the industry progress and development of intelligent transportation infrastructure.
In order to timely synthesize the latest achievements of domestic scientific research and engineering application in the field of intelligent subgrade engineering construction and maintenance technology, lead the direction of intelligent transportation infrastructure construction and maintenance, and promote the development and innovation of "data + intelligence" type of new materials, new structures and new processes, the editorial department of the Journal "Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure" decided to organize the publication of a special issue of "Subgrade Engineering • Intelligent Construction and Maintenance".

We welcome manuscripts that apply smart and emerging techniques to enhance intelligent construction and maintenance of subgrade engineering. The topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Construction technology of digital twin system for road infrastructure
Multiple perception, intelligent recognition and evaluation of service state of subgrade in service
Subgrade service performance intelligent simulation and digital software development
Development of negative carbon emission materials for subgrade damage repair
Technology and equipment for intelligent identification and treatment of subgrade disease
